PUA review #1: Wedding Crashers

There are multiple movies around with subjects akin to pick up. These movies can be very helpful to the aspiring pick up artist when they are discussed. A combination of modeling and contemplation of these films can help you with your game. So this is the first of many PUA reviews.

Last night Siren and I watched Wedding crashers from a completely different point of view than when it first came out. We watched it from the point of view of a pick up artist.
Wedding Crashers lead character portrayed by Vince Vaughn and Owen Wilson are great examples of masterful Pick Up Artists. They are charming and wells spoken. This is proven by the fact they manage to go to weddings they are not invited to and no on cares or question there vague back stories.
There are a few things that we can learn from this movie.
One is to internalize a set of rules and follow them. Mystery talks about how practicing Pick Up calibrates you socially. You learn what can happen in you interactions and what to do when those things happen.
Vince Vaughn and Owen Wilson have a plan set for everything. When a woman Vince Vaughn picked up at a previous wedding shows up at there latest wedding they fall into a set routine of how to handle this. (Not that this plan is theatrical and created for comedic purposes and is not something people should try the point is they have a plan)
Another thing you can take from this movie is to never lose you cool. Rules of pick up and being alpha male say don't let others effect your state. There is a scene where Vince Vaughn is making animal balloons for the children at the wedding when one child comes up demonstrates himself to be a royal pain. He demands, "I want a bicycle. MAKE ME A BICYCLE. DO IT CLOWN. SHUT UP FUNNY MAN." Vince Vaughn keeps his cool, even though he is not sure how to handle the situation. He realizes that the only way to handle it is to make the child a balloon bicycle. What you have to learn from this is the fact that he handled the obstacle of the child without compromising himself even though he probably desired to tell the child off. Put simply no matter the obstacle don't compromise yourself as yelling at a child would have done find a way around it. (Obviously another situation build for theatricality as making a balloon bicycle is not something you can reasonably do)
Another important thing is specifically stated by Vince Vaughn he says, "Don't sit in the corner and sulk it calls attention to you in a negative way. call attention to yourself but on your own terms." this is something that I think applies to pick up very accurately.
There are also many other things but I think these are the most obvious and somewhat important. I would love it if other people added to this PUA analysis of Wedding Crashers.
to summarize
WEDDING CRASHER RULES (In no particular order)

1. Plan for as much as you can and internalize those plans.
2. Don't compromise yourself for an obstacle
3. Call attention to yourself but on your own terms

Discussing pick up with friends

The problem lots of people face when they do pick up are judgments based on what you are doing. Let’s face it some people are not willing to learn enough about the community to make an intelligent judgment about it. This discourages some people to drop out of the community. This is sad because even though there are some people out there who don’t understand there are a lot of people who do.
For example.
In a previous post I mentioned Siren my business partner. She also happens to be my best friend and ex girlfriend. She learned about pick up from me and thinks it is an amazing thing. She thinks it is something that most men need. She finds the topic intriguing enough she helps me teach it.
(The interesting point about Siren is that she is the most serious relationship I have ever had. I found her completely intriguing because everything I understood about women and pick up did not apply to her in the typical sense. She is extremely attractive yet the normal things you would do to pick up a woman like her did not work. That intrigued me; it just made her more fascinating to me. And the point is Siren and I have had long discussions about it and are trying to figure out why. We have lots of theories and we teach plan on teaching what we figure out in the class. The point is Siren in interested enough in pickup she is helping to figure out how to pickup girls like her. Funny Huh?)
My own mother knows about pick up and she thinks it is a great thing. She knows I teach it to other men. She even encourages me teaching the basics to my thirteen year old brother who is almost in high school. He is a good looking guy into sports. Has all the little girls crushing on him. But he is too shy. I’m trying to teach him how to effectively use pick up to communicate with the opposite sex. To be confident and secure with himself.
Multiple friends of mine who did not know what pick up was when we first started our friendships snow know and encourage what I do. I love it. I love that I can tell my friends about the community. I love that I can talk about it.
I used to keep to myself about it. I used to think that it was something that people would think less of me for doing. The people closest to me have supported it. And while some people think it’s a bad thing and I think its unfortunate I don’t let it bother me anymore because this is who I am. Pickup is more than just a way to improve your romantic life. It’s a way to live and hiding that is hiding who you are.
Obviously this advice is to be used within the methods of pickup. While it is possible to tell someone that you are a dating instructor, coach, or someone who is interested in pick up and still use pick up on them it is not something that I recommend for the beginner.

A Pick Up artists guide to San Francisco

As a pickup artist I like to try and find locations that are target rich that I can either 1 go to for fun or to go there to practice pickup.
In my opinion a really important key to pickup is knowing your city. So all of you in San Francisco are ion luck I am going to share some of my favorite places to go and practice what I do.
We will start Simple.
In San Francisco there are small cramped coffee shops everywhere. I know a lot of day game notes tell you coffee shops are the way to go. But I would like to add this to the collection of knowledge saying the bigger the coffee shop the better.
My roommate and I were at a star bucks on Powell and Sutter. It was packed and it had barely twenty people in it. The crowded coffee shop produces a hurried stressful atmosphere. The coffee shop chosen to pick up in needs to be a little on the bigger side. Avoid the cramped small star bucks located on almost every other corner of SF. While some are appropriately sized they are for the most part too damn small. The one on Powell and Sutter is by far and away the worst I have ever seen. Some coffee shops that are good for pickup is the Coffee shop in the borders on Powell near union square. It is large has a nice relaxed atmosphere.
There are two star bucks I know of down on market street that have quite favorable atmospheres. I just want to state that I am not bashing star bucks all together I am just saying that they have a tendency to shove a shop anywhere.
The Westfield shopping center is an amazing location. They have fantastic seating areas where people go to rest that are fantastic for starting up conversations with women. The possibilities here are almost endless. I highly recommend below the dome around lunch time from Thursday through Saturday. Even outside of pickup the Westfield mall is just a tremendously wonderful sight to see.
The metreon Which is in walking distance from the mall is absolutely chock full of opportunities for the aspiring pick up artist. The arcade is a lot of fun to take dates and meet people there. There are groups of college kids going there for just kicks that you can meet.
There are a few really good restaurants on the ground floor. I recommend Buckhorn Grill. Not for any other reason than the food is delicious.
The yerba buena gardens outside is one of the most geourgeous parks in san francisco. It has a waterfall wonderful cityscape veiws. A childrens playground, an ice skating rink a bowling ally.
All in all the Metreon and yerba Buena Gardens is a great place to take dates because of all of the variety.
Panera’s On fourth street is right across from the china basin which holds UCSF classes. It is a common place for students to go for lunch.
Ill continue this topic in other posts and if you have any to add feel free this is only the begining of what I hope to be a regular thread. In my next post of this topic we will discuss more of the uncommon places and events in the city.

Introduction

Hey guys, my name is Richard Heart.
Let’s keep this introduction brief so we can get to the truly fun stuff.
I am a man with a lot of interests and a few specific Passions. That is what this blog is going to be about. Mainly focusing on my two passions of Magic and the Pick up Arts.
These two things in my mind have a lot in common and learning one can absolutely help with the other.
My business partner is a beautiful woman who goes by the appropriate name of Siren. We started up Social Lubricant together and we teach a select clientele of men and women from all over San Francisco Pick up and different social psychology techniques to give them the romantic life they want and the social life they deserve.
I also perform around the city, Private parties and restaurants mostly; my specialties are close up sleight of hand magic and psychological illusions.
This blog is not meant to advertise for my Businesses but to share ideas and opinions with both the magic and the pick up community. I would love it if because of my blog Magicians got interested in pick up or Pick up artists became more interested in magic and learned to use it as more than just a gimmick.
