You don't have to be mainstream but be aware of the mainstream

Hey guys,
Extra tip for the day.
The title pretty much says it all. I do not at all promote being an average Joe or a mainstream guy. But be aware of the mainstream. You don't have to like popular music but be aware or you will just look socially awkward and lose points with the target. Be a man of the world, familiar with as many types of music and other mainstream things as possible.
This came about because a student who listens to country music just knew country music. He was not well rounded at all. He knew about what he liked and that was it.
It is attractive and alpha to be that man of the world that I mentioned earlier.
NOW DON'T PRETEND TO LIKE SOMETHING YOU DON'T. But be familiar with it and have an opinion on it.
And I am not saying you need to be familiar with EVERY piece of music and EVERY artist out there at the moment but if you don't know who say Hannah Montana is your going to just look like a shmuck. So How do we fix this problem?
Thanks to the internet this is easily done. You can easily listen to previews of the top music or preview TV shows. Etc.
I know I said it all ready but its important. Be familiar AND HAVE AN OPINION.
